Is Scribe worth it?

For a team, often yes. Pro Team adds comments, the desktop app captures software that never opens in a browser, and the cost is shared between seats. For one person writing up web tasks, $25 a month billed yearly is $300 a year, and the free plan is the place to start. Scribe's Basic plan lists unlimited guide creation, so the paid plan buys export, editing and redaction of screenshots, and the desktop app, not more guides.

When Scribe is the better pick

Pick Scribe if the guide must cover a desktop app, if a team needs comments, or if you want a link to send instead of a file. Takelight has none of those.

When Takelight is the better pick

Pick Takelight if the task happens in a browser and you work alone. There is no account, the guide stays on your computer, and password fields and other private fields are boxed out of the pictures, which you can blur further by hand. The free plan keeps ten guides. Pro lifts that and adds PDF and Word export.

Takelight Pro costs €39 for 6 months, €69 for a year or €139 for Pro forever. You get 7 days of Pro, free. The roadmap page lists what is planned.
